Material: polycarbonate, ABS or aluminum?

What suitcase size do I need for a 1-week vacation?
For a one-week vacation, we recommend a medium-sized suitcase (M) with a height of 60–69 cm and a capacity of 60–80 liters. That’s enough for 7–10 outfits plus shoes and a toiletry bag. For winter trips with bulky clothing, you should choose size L (70–79 cm). Packing tip: rolling instead of folding saves up to 30% space.
Hard-shell suitcase or soft luggage – which is better?
That depends on your type of trip. Hard-shell suitcases made of polycarbonate offer better protection, are waterproof and stackable – ideal for air travel. Soft luggage is lighter, more flexible (expansion gusset for 25% more volume) and offers exterior pockets – perfect for car and train travel. What does TSA lock mean and do I need one?
TSA stands for Transport Security Administration – the US transportation security authority. A TSA lock can be opened by security officers with a master key without damaging the suitcase. For trips to the USA, a TSA lock is strongly recommended, as suitcases without a TSA lock may be forced open. It also provides additional security for other international air travel.
How many liters should a carry-on suitcase have?
A carry-on suitcase should have a volume of 30–40 liters and a maximum size of 55×40×20 cm. Important weight limits: Lufthansa max. 8 kg, Ryanair max. 10 kg (Priority), Eurowings max. 8 kg. Look for lightweight materials such as polycarbonate so more weight allowance remains for your luggage. For 2–3 days, 30 liters is enough; for 4–5 days, choose 38–40 liters.
