For short excursions such as running or walking, a compact backpack is ideal, offering enough space for a hydration bladder and the essentials. If you are on longer day trips like bike or mountain tours, you should choose a model that additionally has space for food and change of clothes. For multi-day tours or intense activities, a slightly larger hydration pack is recommended.
