What is a TSA lock?

A TSA lock is a special lock that is secured with a numerical code, but can additionally be opened by airport staff for customs control with a master key. These locks can be recognized by their red diamond logo. This type of security system is particularly useful for travelers to the USA, because the TSA authorities at the local airports are authorized to open suitcases for inspection without the passengers being present. In turn, the passengers themselves are then responsible for any possible damage.
TSA locks are also used at German customs. For example, when the passenger cannot be present at a baggage check.
The advantage of a TSA lock is that the suitcase can be returned to the baggage cycle more quickly in the event of a baggage check, without having to locate the passenger first.
In addition, damage to the luggage is prevented, for example, if the passenger has already flown on, but his conventional luggage lock cannot be opened, it is likely to be destroyed for the inspection.
Important for you: A key for the TSA lock attached to the suitcase is not included in your delivery. This master key is located with the airport security staff as explained above.
TSA locks for retrofitting can also be found in our store under the category travel accessories.

Which suitcase size do I need?

The size of your suitcase depends mainly on how long you plan to travel. For short trips and weekend excursions, a small carry-on suitcase is usually sufficient. For a trip of up to one week, we recommend the medium size, for a stay of up to two weeks, the large size. For all trips longer than two weeks, you should get your luggage in the extra-large size
A suitcase set is especially practical if you want to have different suitcase sizes fitting together from one series.
You can see an overview of all suitcase sizes with dimensions and volumes in the following graphic.
